Slow computer

A slow computer can be caused by a hardware or a software problem.

Hardware probelms:
- On of the PC's part (usually the hard disk or memory) is not functioning properly, and slows down the computer. In this case, you will need to test the suspected parts, and repair or replace them.
- Out of memory. A new machine can run with less memory, but over time, different installed programs may be needed more memory. These programs for example are: antivirus programs, Windows Messenger (MSN), SKype, ICQ, Winamp and various cell phone applications. You can get the informations of the memory by pressing Ctrl+Shift+ESC, the Task Manager will open. Click on Performance, in the Physical Memory section you can see the Available memory. If it is under 200.000, then you will need to add some additional memory. In some cases, you can try to uninstall some applications, and thereby gain some memory, but it will help only for a certain period of time.

Software problems:
- This may cause by programs that requires more memory. Such as viruses. With Task Manager you also see this. After clicking on Performance, you can see the CPU usage. If it is 100% for a long time, it is almost sure, that you have this problem.
